United Pipe & Steel Opening New Seymour Location

July 18, 2023

United Pipe & Steel, a leading distributor of pipe, will soon establish a new location at Seymour’s East Side Industrial Park.

At the June 26th meeting of Seymour City Council, it was announced that United Pipe and Steel had purchased the 60,000 square foot “spec” building and will begin expansion to the facility. The company projects hiring 9 employees at the operation.

The company distributes domestic steel pipe, globally sourced steel pipe, copper tubing, plastic pipe, electrical conduit and related products to independent wholesale distributor customers within the plumbing and heating industry; pipe, valve and fittings (PVF); heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC); waterworks; fire protection; pool supply; lumber yard; fence; steel service center and electrical supply markets. The company has 12 strategically-located distribution centers across the U.S.

Bob Martinolli, vice president of operations, attended the Seymour Council meeting virtually, and along with Jim Plump of JCIDC announced the company planned to add over 30,000 square feet to the building in addition to constructing new offices at the facility located at 6520 North CR 1000 East. Council approved 10-year tax abatement in addition to approving transfer of the existing abatement from Old Towne Marketplace, which had purchased the building from local developer TDAK.

In 2021, United Pipe & Steel became part of the Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co. family of companies, and states it’s mission as: “United Pipe & Steel aspires to be a best-in-class distributor, delivering a competitively priced and diverse mix of high-quality pipe products on its own fleet with the shortest lead times to wholesale distributors.”
