Crothersville Elementary School Launches Robotics

July 22, 2022

Thanks to a $10,000 donation from Aisin Drivetrain and JCIDC covering the cost of the VEX Robotic Equipment, Crothersville 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th graders were able to attend robotics camp for free in June.  This was the first time for the camp to be held in Crothersville.

The school is hoping to jumpstart an interest in robotics enough to continue through the school year.

When the camp began all of the pieces for three robots were in boxes.  The kids had to follow instructions to put them together and then figure out how to control them without help from the teachers.  Olivia Cain, one of the teachers, liked seeing the kids succeed during the assembly process.  “It’s very exciting to see them so excited that they got to work on something on their own,” she said.

The next step for the kids is to take what they learned at camp and participate in competitions beginning in the 2022-2023 school year.
